Cards & voting

Cards are the unit of honest feedback. Votes are how the team agrees on what matters most.

Writing good cards

  • One thought per card. It keeps sorting and discussion clean.
  • Specific beats clever. "PRs sat in review for 4+ days" > "Review process is broken".
  • Describe, don’t diagnose. Save the why for the discussion.
  • Reach for evidence. Link a Jira issue from the card’s ··· menu, or paste relevant context into the card body.

Posting anonymously

Each board has an Allow anonymous posts toggle in Board settings. When it’s on, the card creation form shows a "Post anonymously" switch. Anonymous cards display "?" as the avatar and "Anonymous" as the author — useful for sensitive retros where you want people to feel safer being candid.

Anonymous is a per-board setting. Turning it on for one retro doesn’t affect other boards in your workspace.

Voting

Click the thumbs-up at the bottom of a card to vote. Click again to remove your vote. There is one vote per card per person — if you feel strongly, you can still only vote once on any given card.

Sorting a column

Each column has a sort control. Four modes:

  • Newest (default) — most recent card first.
  • Votes — highest-voted first.
  • Comments — most-discussed first.
  • Alphabetical — A–Z by card content.

Sorting is a view preference, not a setting — you can toggle it any time during the retro without affecting what other participants see.

Reordering cards

Drag the grip handle on the left edge of a card to reorder within a column or move it to another column. Any participant can drag cards. There’s no separate "group cards" operation — if you want to merge duplicates, move them next to each other and discuss as a unit, or copy the best phrasing into one card and delete the rest.

Editing and deleting

You can edit or delete your own cards at any time — click the ··· menu on the card. Other people’s cards are read-only.

Turning a card into a Jira issue

If your board is connected to a Jira project (through its team), every card has a Create Jira Issue action in the ··· menu. Once created, the card shows a Jira chip with the issue key. See Jira integration for setup.
